Kerala’s professional talent pool has shown a 172% increase over the past five years, claimed a LinkedIn Talent Insights report.

The report was released at the Skill Kerala Global Summit that began here on Friday, according to a communication. This growth placed Kerala ninth among Indian States, with nearly 40% of its workforce concentrated in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, and Kozhikode cities. The most common roles among professionals include software engineers, accountants, and teachers, it claimed.

The report said that the data was sourced exclusively from LinkedIn’s economic graph. The figures reflected LinkedIn member activity and insights and may not represent the entire labour market, it added.

The report claimed that there was a significant inflow of skilled professionals returning from abroad, particularly the Gulf region. Around 52% of Kerala’s global returnees came from the United Arab Emirates, bringing expertise in business operations, finance, and entrepreneurship, it said.

The report said that 39% of core job skills were expected to change or become obsolete by 2030, underscoring the urgency of reskilling efforts.
