France has barred Israeli national security minister Itamar Ben-Gvir from entering the country over what it described as his “reprehensible actions" towards pro-Palestinian activists aboard a Gaza-bound aid flotilla.

The French foreign ministry said the decision was linked to Ben-Gvir’s conduct during the interception of the vessel earlier this month. France accused the far-right Israeli minister of behaviour that violated humanitarian principles and escalated tensions surrounding the Gaza conflict.

According to French officials, Ben-Gvir played a direct role in decisions taken against activists on board the flotilla, which was attempting to deliver aid to Gaza. Several French nationals were among those detained after Israeli forces intercepted the ship in international waters.

France said the ban was part of a broader effort to respond firmly to actions that undermined humanitarian operations and endangered civilians.

Ben-Gvir condemned the decision and accused France of siding with “terror supporters". He said Israel would continue acting against attempts to breach its blockade on Gaza.

The move comes amid growing diplomatic tensions between Israel and several European countries over the war in Gaza, humanitarian access to the territory and the treatment of activists and aid groups.
