The way one responds to failure becomes a defining factor in long-term professional success, Vijay Sankar, chairman, Sanmar Group, and senior Vice-President, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), said while addressing graduates at the 14th convocation ceremony of Indian Institute of Management – Tiruchi (IIM-T) on Saturday.

Reflecting on his own path, he said while individuals might begin with different advantages, “it is not the set of cards you are dealt with, but what you do with them” that ultimately defines one’s journey. Mr. Sankar outlined the principles for professional success, and the need for students to contribute meaningfully to society.

In his address, Jalaj Dani, chairman, IIM-T Board of Governors, said that uncertainty was no longer an exception, but a constant condition that future leaders must learn to navigate. He urged graduates to think beyond conventional markers of success and focus on the quality of their judgment in moments that truly matter.

Toppers were presented with awards.

Godwin Tennyson, IIM-T director (in-charge), presented the annual report.
