Restaurant owner attacked near DCP office, car vandalised in Bhopal

Bhopal: A restaurant owner was allegedly attacked with a sword-like knife and his car vandalised by a group of miscreants on a motorcycle near the DCP Zone-3 office in Shahjahanabad during the early hours of Friday.The man later questioned the city’s policing in a video posted on social media.According to police, Hitendra Sadana alias Appi Sadana, 48, a resident of Vijay Nagar, Lalghati, runs a restaurant at Nadra Bus Stand. He was returning home with a friend after closing the restaurant when the incident occurred at around 3.30 am.Police said three miscreants riding a motorcycle allegedly collided with Sadana’s car. Soon afterwards, another motorcycle carrying 2-3 more youths arrived, and the group, comprising five to six persons, allegedly attacked the vehicle with sticks, smashing its windows.When Sadana stopped the car and tried to reverse, one of the men allegedly hurled a sword-like knife at him. The weapon smashed the window panel and grazed his shoulder, causing a minor injury.In a video shared on social media, Sadana claimed the attackers also attempted to snatch his gold chain but failed. He questioned how such an attack could take place in the vicinity of a senior police officer’s office.However, police said the investigation so far has not established a robbery motive. ACP Anil Bajpai case has been registered under sections related to assault and mischief causing damage, and not for robbery or attempt to rob.
