Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy made a strong appeal to all political parties across Telugu States to extend their full support to Justice Sudershan Reddy as the Vice President candidate describing him as the embodiment of Telugu pride and Telangana pride.

As the INDI Alliance announced its decision to finalise Justice Sudarshan Reddy as its Vice President candidate, the Chief Minister hailed him as a constitutional expert whose candidature comes at the right time when the Constitution itself is under strain.

Mr. Revanth Reddy pointed out that the current political battle is between forces seeking to dilute constitutional values and those upholding the democratic ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. In this context, Justice Sudershan Reddy, a legal luminary and son of a farmer, is seen as the perfect representative to defend the nation’s constitutional spirit.

“After P.V. Narasimha Rao, Justice Sudershan Reddy is the first leader from Telangana aspiring for such a high office. It is the responsibility of all Telugus to ensure his victory. His election is not just a political contest but a historic necessity to safeguard the Constitution,” Mr. Reddy stated.

Calling him non-political, non-controversial, and a representative of all Indians, the Chief Minister stressed that Justice Sudarshan Reddy is above party lines.

He reminded how late N.T. Rama Rao once supported P.V. Narasimha Rao’s candidature to win in the bypolls after being elected as Prime Minister, and urged Telugu leaders like N. Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, K. Chandrashekar Rao, Asaduddin Owaisi, and Left leaders to take inspiration from that unity and stand behind Justice Sudershan Reddy.

Mr. Reddy also pointed out that while the BJP has fielded an OBC candidate, its track record on OBC reservations is questionable. In contrast, Justice Sudershan Reddy himself chaired the committee on OBC reservations in Telangana and worked to strengthen their rights.

“If the NDA candidate wins, OBCs gain nothing. With Justice Sudershan Reddy, the cause of reservations and constitutional justice will be safeguarded,” Mr. Reddy argued. Expressing appreciation to the INDI Alliance for considering Sudershan Reddy’s name, the Chief Minister said his victory would symbolize the unity of Telugus and the triumph of constitutional democracy.

“In future, he may well rise to the highest office of the President of India. Supporting him today is a duty towards history,” Mr Reddy argued.
