Revenue officials in Salem district join indefinite strike by federation

SALEM: Revenue officials in Salem district on Wednesday joined an indefinite strike called by the Federation of Revenue Department Unions. The federation began the indefinite strike on Tuesday to press for their demands including immediate enactment of the Special Job Protection Act.On Wednesday, more than 500 revenue officials, led by Tamil Nadu Revenue Department Officers Association state vice-president Arthanari, participated in a sit-in protest at the taluk office in the Hastampatty area of Salem city. Most govt offices in the district remained deserted as employees stayed away from work, and election preparations and routine administrative activities came to a complete standstill due to the protest.
