Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Congress, Samajwadi Party, TMC and DMK on Tuesday for stalling the women’s reservation bill in Parliament, saying parties doing politics of nepotism and appeasement consider the rise of women in law-making by reaching Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha in greater numbers as the biggest threat to their existence.“Women of country are witnessing the character of the opposition parties. By turning out in huge numbers to vote in poll-bound states, the women are giving a clear signal of punishing those parties that blocked the women’s reservation bill, Modi said while addressing an all-women convention `Nari Shakti Vandan’ in his Lok Sabha constituency.Stating that “nari shakti” is the strongest pillar of Viksit Bharat, Modi reiterated that despite all these odds, his govt will continue its efforts to ensure women are reaching Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha in greater strength and play key role in law-making.After launching 163 projects worth Rs 6,332 crore — laying foundation for 113 projects of Rs 5,277 crore and inaugurating 50 worth Rs 1,055 crore — and flagging off two Amrit Bharat trains, PM Modi targeted the opposition. “Construction of the new Parliament building made our intention clear that we will fulfill our commitment to give 33% quota to women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies. The first bill we tabled in the new Parliament was also the same, and it was passed,” Modi said.

“But, when the time came to execute the women’s reservation bill, Congress, Samajwadi Party, TMC and DMK created hurdles again. Like the past 40 years, they again decided to keep women deprived of their rights to reach Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha as law-makers in greater numbers and emerge as decision-makers.”“The mission to make India developed continues unabated. And when I speak of a developed India, its strongest pillar is India’s ‘Nari shakti’ (women power),” PM Modi said. The Prime Minister said the BJP governments have focused on the safety of women.“You have seen the situation change before your eyes here in Uttar Pradesh. Until a few years ago, when the Samajwadi Party was in power here, it was difficult for daughters to even step out of their homes. But now, under the BJP government, anyone harbouring negative thoughts against daughters knows exactly what the consequences will be.

Bhartiya Nyan Sanhita has also given sisters and daughters a new confidence in their safety,” he said.Highlighting all projects aimed at strengthening women’s social and economic condition including toilet, Jan Dhan, Ujjwala, tap water at each household, power connection, giving homes in name of women in housing schemes, Mudra lone, Lakhpati Didi, Drone Didi, Sukanya Samriddhi, strengthening self-help groups, promotion in dairy sector and others, Modi said, “Today women of the country are advancing in every field and the govt is providing every possible support in their progress as role is key in achieving the dream of developed India by 2047.

Modi also made women recall the insecurity they felt during the SP regime and said that BJP-led govt took the guarantee of the security of women, ensured quick justice in crime committed against them.Regarding the projects he inaugurated and laid foundation stones, Modi said that it will give new momentum to the development of the region.
