Rising heat forces closure of summer classes in Pathanamthitta

In view of the likelihood of a heatwave, Pathanamthitta Collector S. Prem Krishnan has imposed a ban on summer vacation classes in all schools up to the higher secondary level, as well as in tuition centres across the district. However, educational institutions may conduct classes online if required during this period.

“Atmospheric temperatures are rising significantly above normal levels, creating a high likelihood of heatwave conditions. Alerts have been issued by both the India Meteorological Department and the State Disaster Management Authority to mitigate potential risks. High temperatures, coupled with humidity, are likely to cause intense heat and discomfort, which can lead to serious health issues such as sunstroke, heat exhaustion, dehydration, and related ailments,” a circular said.
