Ranchi: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) plans to convert the 20-km stretch connecting Kanke to Dhurwa (via Ratu Road and Harmu) into a model urban corridor by removing encroachments and carrying out beautification projects.
Civic body officials began surveys for the project on Friday. The project will cover the stretch beginning at Kanke Ram Mandir to Jharkhand Mantralaya (Project Building), moving through Justice L P N Shahdeo Chowk, Ratu Road Chowk and Harmu Bypass Road.Besides removing encroachments, the stretch will become a green zone and will feature vertical gardens, green patches, vibrant wall paintings and murals.“Following a high-level review meeting on Thursday, our teams are already on the ground surveying the area.
Once the assessment is complete, we will launch the anti-encroachment drive, followed by the beautification process in a phased manner,” additional municipal commissioner (AMC) Sanjay Kumar said.During the review, major issues along the stretch, which includes encroachment of roads by shops and street vendors, unauthorised parking, unorganised autorickshaw stops and parking and illegal hoardings and signages, were discussed.
Municipal commissioner Sushant Gaurav said, “The objective is to establish scientific management of roads, footpaths, parking bays, auto stands, and vending zones.”RMC has constituted three special enforcement teams which will be monitored by two AMCs and one deputy municipal commissioner. The engineering wing has been directed to clear blocked pavements and build new footpaths wherever necessary to ensure pedestrian safety. The civic body’s real estate real estate wing will conduct a survey on both sides of the corridor to identify commercial establishments that have illegally extended onto govt land. Violators will face legal action, officials said.RMC also plans to convert an available plot near Naga Baba Khatal market, into a permanent auto stand to ease traffic in the area.
