Rohit likely to get second consecutive term as mayor

Panaji: With Panaji MLA Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate’s panel retaining control over the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), his son Rohit, is likely to continue as mayor for a second consecutive term.Rohit is the first mayor who was able to complete a full term in office. He joined electoral politics in the previous CCP election, and was immediately entrusted with the role of mayor.Monserrate retained Rohit as mayor for five years, but changed the deputy mayor on two occasions.While Monserrate made it clear that the party will decide the new mayor for the city, there is a strong indication in political circles that Rohit will get a second consecutive term.
