RS polls: Nomination papers of 3 NDA candidates found valid

Guwahati: The nomination papers of all three NDA candidates for the election to the three Rajya Sabha seats in Assam were found valid during scrutiny on Friday, making their unopposed election certain.“The papers of all three candidates are valid. Their victory will be formally declared only after the last date of withdrawal on March 9,” returning officer Rajib Bhattacharya said.BJP leaders Jogen Mohan and Terash Gowala, along with UPPL chief Pramod Boro, had filed their papers on Thursday, the last day of nominations.With only three candidates in the fray for three seats, polling scheduled for March 16 will not be required. The opposition did not field any candidate, lacking the numbers in the assembly.
