RSS Backs SIT Probe In Ram Temple Donation Row, Flags Population Imbalance At Sangh’s Crucial Belagavi Meet

Expressing confidence in the ongoing SIT probe into the alleged irregularities in counting donations at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on Sunday urged the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Nyas to ensure such incidents are not repeated as they could hurt the faith of devotees.

The position emerged after the Sangh’s three-day Akhil Bharatiya Prant Pracharak Baithak in Belagavi, which was attended by the organisation’s chief Mohan Bhagwat, and general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale and 226 senior functionaries.

Releasing the outcome of the meeting, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar said, “Everyone expressed grief over the incident of irregularities in the counting of the donation box offerings at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, and expressed confidence that the ongoing SIT and police action, initiated at the request of the Teerth Kshetra Nyas, will reach a decisive turn."

Ambekar in the statement also said, “It was expected of the Teerth Kshetra Nyas to ensure that no such incident occurs in the future which could hurt the reverence and deep faith of all Ram Bhakts toward the Ram Mandir."

Apart from the Ayodhya temple issue, the Sangh discussed the ongoing Census process. The organisation described the challenges arising from ‘population imbalance’, as a subject that has increasingly featured in its outreach and policy discussions. While the statement did not elaborate on the issue, senior RSS functionaries reviewed the current national scenario with the Census and demographic trends among the key agenda items.

During the three-day meeting, the organisation also reviewed the progress of the RSS’s centenary year programmes and preparations for the remaining events scheduled over the coming months. Plans were discussed to connect people who came into contact with the Sangh during the centenary outreach with social work and its Panch Parivartan initiatives. Organisational expansion remained another major focus, with discussions on implementing shakha-level action plans and the nationwide Shakha Vistar Yojana scheduled for September. The RSS said 83 Sangh Shiksha Vargas and 12 Karyakarta Vikas Vargas were organised across the country after March this year, training 18,842 swayamsevaks in areas including organisational work, village development, family awareness, disaster management and environmental protection.

The meeting also identified drug abuse as a growing social challenge and called for prioritising de-addiction efforts. It further discussed programmes to mark the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Ravidas Maharaj and reviewed the travel schedule of Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat for 2026-27.
