“Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will celebrate its centenary by focussing on Pancha Parivarthane, or five areas of service, including removing discrimination based on language, caste, religion, protection of environment and Swadeshi promotion,” Ekka Chandrashekar, Seva Pramukh of RSS South Central Zone, said in Belagavi on Friday.
“India will emerge as a new power only when citizens respond to the implementation of these five points. Our volunteers will also work towards strengthening the family system and motivating the people to fulfil their civic duties. Social transformation cannot be achieved through lecturing or speeches alone. It needs grass roots work,” he said, while speaking at the Ugadi Utsav programme organised by the city RSS unit at the Union Gymkhana Ground.
“Our country is facing the problems of terrorism, religious conversion and casteism. India can be protected only when national awareness is created among the citizens about such issues,” he said.
“The Sangh’s volunteers have been noticing the shortcomings in various sectors of society. To address these challenges, they have undertaken many service and organisation projects. We have been able to make significant contributions in various sectors of service, education, labour and culture and other areas,” he said.
A.B. Patil, former Minister and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Gandhi Bhavan, said, “The RSS had made its unique mark in society through service and organiSation.”
“If Christians and Muslims face any problem in India, there are over 50 countries who can rush to their help. But if Hindus face any problems, they have to fend for themselves. Therefore, Hindus should abandon our caste feelings and organise ourselves,” he said.
Provincial Karyavaha Raghavendra Kagawad read out the report of the recent RSS All India Representative Meeting held in Haryana. City Sanghchalak Balanna Kagganagi, Praveen Agasagi, Abhishek Porawala, Ramesh Dhotre, and others were present.
