RTO seizes 10 school vehicles in over safety violations

Indore: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) seized ten school vehicles in Indore’s Chhota Bangarda area after a surprise inspection drive uncovered multiple safety violations, officials said.The seized vehicles included three school buses, three travellers and four vans, all found violating rules during the checks aimed at ensuring the safety of schoolchildren.During the drive, RTO officials examined vehicle permits, fitness certificates, insurance papers and other mandatory documents, besides physically inspecting the vehicles to check compliance with fitness and permit conditions. Fire safety equipment, speed governors and other safety arrangements were also inspected.Officials also sought feedback from schoolchildren and their parents, gathering information on issues such as drivers speeding, using mobile phones while driving, and other safety-related concerns.The inspection revealed that several vehicles were violating Supreme Court guidelines on the safety of schoolchildren. Three vehicles were found operating with expired permits and fitness certificates. Action was taken on the spot, and the three buses, three travellers and four vans were seized immediately.The drive was carried out by RTO Pradeep Sharma, ARTO Archana Mishra, along with RTO office staff and the flying squad team.
