 R Madhavan’s 2002 romantic action drama returns set to hit the big screen

R Madhavan’s popular romantic action drama ‘Run’ is all set to return to theatres. Written and directed by N. Lingusamy, the film stars Madhavan and Meera Jasmine in the lead roles. The 2002 hit film will be re-released on July 10, giving fans another chance to enjoy the classic on the big screen.

‘Run’ set for big screen return

Talking about the film, it tells the story of Shiva, played by Madhavan, who falls in love with Priya, played by Meera Jasmine. Priya asks him not to follow her, but Shiva later learns that her brother is a feared gangster.The film then follows the many challenges Shiva and Priya face as they fight to stay together despite the dangers around them.

Apart from Madhavan and Meera Jasmine, the film also features Vivek, Raghuvaran, Atul Kulkarni, Anu Hasan, Janaki Sabesh and SN Lakshmi in important roles.The music was composed by Vidyasagar, whose songs became huge hits after the film's release. The cinematography for Run was handled by Jeeva. The film was produced by AM Rathnam under the Sri Surya Movies banner.

Sharing the re-release news the makers took to their X handle and wrote, “காதலும் வீரமும். Coming back to make you all fall in love with them yet again. #Run re-releasing in theatres on July 10th.”

Interestingly, following the success of the Tamil version, ‘Run’ was later remade in Hindi with Abhishek Bachchan and Bhumika Chawla in the lead roles.

R Madhavan received Padma Shri

Earlier this year, R Madhavan received the prestigious Padma Shri award in recognition of his contribution to Indian cinema. Sharing his happiness and gratitude for the honour, he reposted a post from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Along with the post, he added folded hands emojis.On the work front, R Madhavan is gearing up for his upcoming biographical drama ‘G.D.N’.
