The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) maintains contact with the US’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) over the situation on Iran, SVR Director Sergey Naryshkin said on Wednesday.

Replying to a question, Naryshkin confirmed that the two intelligence agencies had been in contacts regarding the developments in Iran.

“Yes, we maintain contact with the Central Intelligence Agency, if you mean the Foreign Intelligence Service," Sputnik quoted him saying.

Speaking on the situation in Ukraine, the SVR chief said Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his team need to “gather the remnants of their critical thinking and accept the fair peace proposals put forward by the Russian side".

Meanwhile, Caliber quoted Naryshkin confirming that Russia is engaged in broader diplomatic consultations aimed at addressing the escalating crisis in the Middle East.

“The Russian side is conducting consultations with various countries, with the leadership of a number of states, regarding the settlement of the severe crisis in the Middle East," he said.

This came days after the Ukrainian President shared a summary of Ukrainian intelligence, claiming that Russian satellites captured images of multiple US and allied installations across the Middle East between March 24 and March 26. These included bases and critical infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Türkiye, and the Indian Ocean region.

Additionally, in an interview with NBC News, Zelenskyy claimed that Russian satellites photographed the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia on March 20, March 23 and March 25, just days before the attack. On March 26, Iran launched an attack on the Prince Sultan Air Base, which hosts both US and Saudi forces. Iran had fired six ballistic missiles and 29 drones at the base.

Speaking during a visit to Qatar, Zelenskyy said he was “100%" certain that Russia shared intelligence with Iran to help target US forces.
