The Russo Brothers are all set for their big return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with 'Avengers: Doomsday' and 'Avengers: Secret Wars' lined up for their releases.With two back-to-back films in the works, fans of the director duo will be pleased to hear the latest buzz about their possible next film on the cards.
According to industry insider Alex Perez, the directors, who have already worked their magic on four 'Avengers' films, will reportedly be coming back to helm a fifth instalment of the superhero franchise.While the project has not been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios, Perez claims it is currently being explored as part of the studio's long-term plans. In a post on The Cosmic Circus, Perez suggested that the Russo Brothers are working on an additional Avengers project beyond the two films already in the works."Just the exploration of a two-parter. I can confirm through sources and evidence provided recently that the Russos have another Avengers film that they're working on aside from Doomsday and Secret Wars. Based on their statements, there's a chance it'll involve splitting Secret Wars into two; however, it could also be the next Avengers installment," he said.At present, Marvel Studios has only officially announced 'Avengers: Doomsday' and 'Avengers: Secret Wars' as the next two entries in the Avengers franchise.
Any additional film remains unconfirmed.Anthony Russo and Joe Russo are returning to direct both films, with 'Avengers: Doomsday' expected to bring together several superhero teams from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the Avengers, Wakandans, New Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men, as they face Robert Downey Jr. in his new role as Doctor Doom.The film is scheduled to release on December 18.Meanwhile, 'Avengers: Secret Wars' which is also going into production, is slated to hit theatres on December 17, 2027.
