The trade deadline of the NHL usually causes a lot of changes to the rosters as teams attempt to enhance their prospects towards the end of the season. First impressions have been good with Ryan Strome, Jonathan Drouin and Nicolas Roy each making significant implications on the new clubs.
Three NHL trade deadline acquisitions already making early impact for Calgary Flames, St. Louis Blues and Colorado Avalanche
Ryan Strome was an instant star upon being traded to the Calgary Flames in a deal with the Anaheim Ducks. The Flames purchased the veteran forward using a seventh-round draft pick, as it was assumed his contract had an average annual value of $5 million.
Strome had only nine points in 33 games with Anaheim this season, but when he came to Calgary, the story changed very fast. The Flames defeated the Carolina Hurricanes by 5 goals to 4, and Strome contributed significantly towards the outcome.He not only got his first goal with Calgary but also had an assist, thus registering two points in his debut game with the team.Jonathan Drouin also enjoyed a positive start after joining the St.
Louis Blues. The New York Islanders had sold the forward with 21 points in 55 games this season.During his debut with St. Louis, Drouin assisted the Blues to beat the Anaheim Ducks 4-0. He made his contribution by scoring his first goal for the Blues.The show provided a promising prospect of what the future can offer the fans of St. Louis as the season progresses.Nicolas Roy quickly proved valuable for the Colorado Avalanche following his trade deadline arrival. Colorado had a hard-fought game against the Minnesota Wild in a game that had two good teams.As the Avalanche was trailing towards the end of the third period, Roy scored the tying goal to go to overtime. It was his first goal with the Colorado team and contributed to keeping the team in the game before the final shootout.
