Environmentalist and Padma Shri awardee Saalumarada Thimmakka has been hospitalised again. She was admitted to a private hospital two days ago after she complained of weakness and loss of appetite.

Doctors at the Apollo Speciality Hospital in Jayanagar, where she is being treated, said she is undergoing routine follow-up investigations and doing well. “We have kept her under observation as she is a known cardiac and asthma patient. She was brought to the hospital after she complained of weakness and loss of appetite. She will be discharged on Wednesday after investigations,” said Govindaiah Yatheesh, hospital unit head.

Previously, the 114-year-old environmentalist was hospitalised in October 2023 and January 2024 for severe respiratory issues and a heart attack, respectively. In the October 2023 incident, she was admitted to Apollo Speciality Hospital, Jayanagar, for bronchial asthma and later underwent angioplasty for a blocked artery. In a separate hospitalisation in December 2024, she was admitted again due to complications from her ongoing respiratory issues and age-related ailments.
