Premier League giants Manchester City crushed Liverpool 4-0 in their FA Cup clash on Saturday at the Emirates, delivering a comprehensive demolition as Pep Guardiola and his side knocked Arne Slot’s Reds out of the competition.
Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was in attendance during City’s rampant showing, and the man who foiled the dreams of Liverpool and City fans for over two decades laughed off boos in good humour during the quarterfinal.
The 83-year-old proved be an persistent thorn during his tenure at the helm of the Manchester United side that ruled the land for a prolonged period of time as he led the Red Devils to 13 Premier League crowns in an unprecedented record.
City superstar Erling Haaland took home the match ball with a hat-trick, while Antoine Semenyo added the other goal in a ruthless rout of the Merseysiders.
Haaland opened the scoring in the 39th minute, making no mistake from the penalty spot to send Guardiola’s men into celebration, before doubling their advantage in the second minute of first-half added time.
City took a 2-0 lead into the break and extended it early in the second half, as Semenyo struck five minutes after the restart, with Haaland completing his hat-trick seven minutes later.
