Vijayawada: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the custodial death of rowdy-sheeter Gade Sai Krishna at Krishnalanka police station has intensified its probe, questioning station personnel and examining the role of two head constables and one Suresh in allegedly suppressing facts.On Friday, the SIT formed special teams to arrest head constables Nani and Ashok, who have not reported for duty since Wednesday evening and have been absconding since suspended CI Nagaraju was arrested in connection with Sai Krishna’s custodial death case.The SIT officers visited the residences of head constables Nani and Ashok at Patamata and Yanamalakuduru but returned after failing to locate them.Meanwhile, the SIT once again summoned all police personnel posted at Krishna Lanka police station for questioning.
They were examined at the Police Command Control Centre, from where the SIT has been conducting its investigation.In a key development, the probe team reportedly found that the two head constables, along with Suresh, a friend of suspended CI Nagaraju, met Sai Krishna’s relatives at Vaddeswaram on May 29. The SIT has seized CCTV footage and call detail records (CDRs) related to the meeting as part of its investigation.
Meanwhile, suspended CI Nagaraju, who is currently lodged in Rajahmundry Central Jail in connection with the Sai Krishna custodial death case, has urged the court to allow him home-cooked food and provide him with a cot and a fan inside the jail.In a separate development, Sai Krishna’s mother Vijaya Lakshmi on Friday filed a fresh interlocutory petition in the high court seeking directions for a CBI-led probe into Sai Krishna’s custodial death case. It could be mentioned here that Vijaya Lakshmi has already filed a habeas corpus petition in high court with next hearing into the petition set to take place on June 29.
