SALEM: V Vishwanth, 23, of Salem won the best background score award at the Singapore Lion International Film Festival (Season 3) for his composition for the short film Betting Duniya, which highlighted the dangers of betting and gambling.Vishv, as he is known among the music circles, told TOI that actor and producer James Muni had entrusted him with the task of composing the background score for the short film. Vishv said he had completed the entire background score in seven days while managing college classes and examinations. He attended college in the mornings and worked on the background music during the lunch breaks and at nights.Vishv said winning the award was deeply motivating. “I am grateful to James Muni and the entire film team for believing in me,” he said, adding that the recognition strengthened his resolve to pursue his dream of composing music for cinema and telling powerful stories through sound.Vishv completed his Class XII at Jairam Higher Secondary School, Salem, and pursued B Tech in Computer Science and Business Systems at K S Rangasamy College of Technology, Tiruchengode. His father, Venkatanarasimman, works at a temple and his mother, Girija, is a librarian at a private college. His younger brother Vinoth in IT sector.The Singapore Lion International Film Festival is an independent film festival that supports and encourages filmmakers from different countries. A total of 10,456 entries were submitted in Season 3.
