Salem: The Thevur police in Salem district have launched a search for a four-year-old girl who has been missing since July 30. The missing girl has been identified as R Kavisha, 4, daughter of L Raja, 36, and Meena, 30 of Pullagoundampatty Agraharam.
The police were trying to establish if the girl had been kidnapped or if her parents sold her for illegal adoption.
Kavisha went missing after she went to a nearby anganwadi at 10am on July 30. Following Raja's complaint, a case was filed at Thevur police station that same evening, and an investigation is currently in progress."We will make every effort to locate the child as soon as possible," Salem district SP Gautam Goyal stated.The SP told TOI that the investigation was carried out under the direct oversight of the Sankari DSP and a special team. He said the police had conducted searches with the assistance of a sniffer dog. Additional police forces were deployed to search wells, canals, and other nearby areas. "They are also reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity," he said.
