Salesforce has reportedly reduced its workforce at the start of this month. According to Business Insider, the company has cut nearly 1,000 jobs. Impacted teams include marketing, product management, data analytics, and Salesforce's Agentforce AI product that Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff has previously said “is part and parcel of Salesforce”.
In an interview with CNBC’s Jim Cramer, Benioff said the company’s AI program, Agentforce, is central to business. “People don’t understand that Agentforce is part and parcel of Salesforce,” Marc Benioff then said adding “It is the core of every product we make now, it is the platform.”For those unaware, Agentforce helps companies use autonomous bots to perform tasks and is meant to increase efficiency. The Business Insider report says that many of the laid off employees as part of Salesforce job cuts shared on LinkedIn that their roles had been eliminated.
At least nine posts reviewed showed job losses across different teams, it says, adding two employees also confirmed the layoffs while speaking to the publication.
Executive shake up at Saleforce
The job cuts come at a time of leadership changes at the company. Salesforce has appointed six new executives to senior roles, replacing five top leaders who have announced their exits since December. The changes mark a period of transition in the company’s leadership structure.
Salesforce has been increasingly using AI e across its operations. In August, CEO Marc Benioff said the company had used AI agents to reduce the size of its customer support team. According to Benioff, the support staff was cut from about 9,000 employees to around 5,000 by using AI-driven tools.
When Marc Benioff said Agentforce is central to Salesforce business
As mentioned above, in 2025, Benioff said that Agentforce is a key part of the company’s business. He then revealed that the Agentforce platform has developed significantly since the company first introduced it in 2024. Benioff then said Agentforce has “10s of 1000s of deployments, and those customers are all ready to get to another level of execution.”
