Times News NetworkKanpur: Salim Ahmed’s woollen saddle pad was selected for the first prize during a meeting of the Regional Handloom Award Selection Committee, held at the Merchant Chamber Hall, Civil Lines, here on Monday.The meeting was held under the chairmanship of district magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh to choose outstanding products for the year 2026-27 under the Sant Kabir State Handloom award Scheme.Abdul Hamid’s woollen saddle pad was selected for the second prize, and Shariq Ansari’s “dari” (rug) for the third prize by the selection committee.Weavers showcased their exquisite craftsmanship, traditional skills, and creativity through a variety of handloom products, including rugs, carpets, and decorative items crafted with threads of artistry.District magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh inspected the products presented before the committee and inquired about the craftsmanship and unique features from the weavers.
