According to local residents, the DEMU train has allegedly made similar brief stops at the location on several occasions, during which the loco pilot would reportedly get off to buy snacks before the train departed. However, railway officials have not verified these claims.

Reacting to the viral video, Western Railway Public Relations Officer Mukesh Kumar has said the administration became aware of the incident through social media and has forwarded the video to senior officials for verification. He said the authenticity of the clip, the identity of the loco pilot, the train involved and the exact reason for the halt are yet to be established.

“At this point, I also cannot confirm why the train had stopped. I do not know the exact location or whether it had stopped because of a signal or for some other reason. Therefore, I have referred the matter to the concerned department for investigation, because the officers and employees of the concerned department know the locations, the routes, the train involved, the driver, and all those details," he said as quoted by news agency PTI.

Kumar added that officials will determine whether the train had stopped due to an operational reason, such as a signal, or for any other legitimate purpose. He stressed that dismissal from service is a major disciplinary action and any punishment would depend on the findings of the inquiry.

“Dismissal from service is a very major punishment. It is not a matter of removing someone from service. However, if any fault is found, some form of punishment will be given," he added.

Railway officials said that if the investigation establishes that the loco pilot halted the train without authorization or operational necessity and left the locomotive cabin for personal work, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.
