Samsung teases Galaxy S26 camera features ahead of expected February launch

Samsung is expected to unveil its next flagship smartphone lineup, the Galaxy S26 series, later this month. Samsung Galaxy S26 series is said to comprise of three phones – Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Though the company is yet to officially announce a launch date, it has dropped teasers suggesting that the focus of the upcoming series will be camera upgrades, especially in zoom and low-light video performance. Samsung has released three teaser videos. One of them shows a user zooming in on a dog sitting inside a car, suggesting zoom performance beyond 10x. The other two teaser videos focus on low-light video recording, indicating improvements in capturing videos in darker conditions.

Samsung Galaxy S26 series expected camera specifications

The high-end Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumored to feature a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. It is also tipped to come with an upgraded 200MP primary rear camera with an f/1.4 aperture.The Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+, on the other hand, are rumoured to include either an upgraded 12MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom or retain the 10MP telephoto unit used in the Galaxy S25 series.

Samsung usually hosts its Galaxy Unpacked event in February to unveil the Galaxy S series. The Galaxy S26 series is tipped to debut on February 25. Sales, on the other hand, are expected to start in March.

Smartphones under the Samsung Galaxy S26 series are likely to be powered by either Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. Like last year, this chipset may also be optimised for Galaxy phones. The processor will reportedly feature up to 16GB of RAM and internal storage options up to 1TB.Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is said to come with the best camera that the company has to offer. The quad camera setup is suggested to come with a 200MP primary sensor, 50MP ultra-wide camera, 50MP Telephoto camera lens with 5x optical zoom and an additional 10MP shooter. The handset is believed to run One UI 8.5 based on Android 16 out of the box.Coming to the battery, the smartphone is rumoured to pack a 5000mAh battery with support for 60W wired charging – up from 45W in Galaxy S25 Ultra model – and 20W wireless charging.
