'Sankalp' explores power and politics

Sankalp is directed by Prakash Jha and stars Nana Patekar

A new socio-political thriller, Sankalp, brings together questions of power, belief and mentorship in a layered narrative led by a seasoned ensemble. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Prakash Jha, the series features Nana Patekar in a central role, alongside Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Kubbra Sait, Neeraj Kabi, Sanjay Kapoor and Kranti Prakash Jha. Set against a politically charged backdrop, the show explores how personal ideologies and relationships often intersect with ambition. Rather than presenting clear heroes or villains, Sankalp focuses on the grey areas that shape decision-making and influence outcomes. Reflecting on his experience during the shoot, Patekar spoke about the sense of camaraderie that developed off camera. He recalled how shared meals brought the cast and crew closer, turning routine evenings into moments of connection.

According to him, these interactions helped build a natural comfort on set, making performances feel more organic. He also spoke about his long-standing association with Jha, noting that mutual understanding plays a key role in their working relationship. Acknowledging each other’s strengths and flaws, he said, has made collaboration easier over time and strengthened their bond without the need for constant discussion.

The series, produced by PJP Productions in partnership with Jio Studios, is now available to stream on Amazon MX Player. With its measured storytelling and character-driven approach, Sankalp presents a steady look at how power and belief systems evolve in complex environments.
