Santoor player Tarun Bhattacharya to perform with L. Shankar in Varanasi concert

Fresh off his Padma Shri honour, santoor maestro Tarun Bhattacharya is set to enchant Varanasi with a unique collaboration. He will join forces with violinist L. Shankar for a special performance, merging the distinct sounds of their instruments. This concert, part of the Annapurna Devi Foundation Music Tour, highlights classical music and supports artists.

Following his recent Padma Shri, santoor player Tarun Bhattacharya is set to perform in Varanasi as part of the Annapurna Devi Foundation Music Tour. The concert will feature a collaboration with violinist L.

Shankar. The performance will bring together the santoor and violin in a joint recital. The meeting of santoor and violin—two instruments with contrasting tonal textures—promises a rare musical dialogue that blends intricacy with spontaneity. Bhattacharya, based in Kolkata, has continued to perform across India and abroad in recent months. Alongside his performances, he remains engaged in training young musicians, following the guru–shishya tradition.
