Sarathkumar sends a powerful message at 'Aazhi' trailer launch, says 'Story matters more than spectacle'

After 'Kombu Seevi', actor Sarathkumar has acted in a new film titled 'Aazhi', directed by Madhav Dasan. The film is based on the sea and has a different and emotional kind of story.

It is made with a strong focus on realism and natural settings. The cast includes Devika Satheesh, Indrajith Jagan, Thamarai Selvi, and Vaiyapuri in important roles. The film is set to release in theatres on February 27, and the trailer launch event was held recently with the cast and crew in attendance.

Sarathkumar on story over spectacle

Speaking at the event, Sarathkumar said that 'Aazhi' is not a regular commercial film made for mass entertainment alone. He said the film does not depend on big dance numbers, songs, or visual grandeur to attract the audience.

“Many films today depend on spectacle and visual show. But in 'Aazhi', the real grandeur is the story itself,” he said. He added that today’s audience watches many kinds of films across platforms, and strong content and meaningful storytelling are what truly make a film stand out and stay in people’s minds.

Sarathkumar on today’s media confusion

Sarathkumar also spoke about the confusion actors face today because of changing media platforms and viewing habits.

“Now there is a strong shorts culture. Reels, shorts, TV, OTT, theatres – there is confusion about where and why we act,” he said. He explained that many actors feel pressure to fit into every format. But he strongly felt that actors should not get trapped in this confusion of platforms and trends. According to him, acting should remain honest and sincere, no matter where it is shown.

Sarathkumar's message about change and adaptation

Sarathkumar ended his speech by talking about change and adaptation in the modern cinema world. “Acting is acting, no matter the platform. The format may change, but the responsibility and truth of an actor do not change,” he said. He also said that artists must learn to grow with time and adapt instead of resisting change. His comments echoed the key issues of the present cinema industry and endorsed content-based movies like ‘Aazhi’, which are more dramatic and substantial works with more importance on ideas, emotions, and feelings than on a technical and commercial attraction in its production.
