Sasaram court fines Chandauli DM for failing to reply to notice

In a surprising turn of events, a district magistrate from Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh, has found himself on the receiving end of a Rs 10,000 fine imposed by a Sasaram court. This penalty arises from his failure to reply to a show-cause notice within the stipulated 14-day time frame.

Sasaram: A court in Sasaram on Thursday imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 on the district magistrate of Chandauli in Uttar Pradesh for failing to respond to a show-cause notice within the stipulated timeframe.The order was passed by additional district judge-IV Anil Kumar after the Chandauli collector did not submit a reply to the show-cause notice (DB No. 98) issued on March 5, 2026. Despite being granted 14 days, no response was filed.Taking serious note of the lapse, the court directed the district magistrate to deposit the fine along with the due compensation amount before the next date of hearing.A copy of the order has been forwarded to the Chandauli administration for necessary compliance. The matter is now scheduled for further hearing on April 8, 2026.The case relates to an execution proceeding in which the decree holder is the divisional manager of United India Insurance Company.
