The family of journalist Savannah Guthrie is desperately seeking contact with those holding their missing 84-year-old mother, Nancy. Her brother, Camron, released a video pleading for communication, emphasizing they need to confirm her safety. Authorities have arrested an imposter attempting to exploit the situation, while the FBI investigates a ransom note.
A day after journalist Savannah Guthrie, brother Camron, and their sister Annie Guthrie tearfully pleaded for the safe return of their missing mother Nancy Guthrie, Camron Guthrie released a video addressing the possible abductors, saying “we need you to reach out”.
Cameron shared that they have not yet heard from anywhere. The siblings previously released a video saying they are “ready to talk” to their missing mom’s possible abductors.
Savannah Guthrie’s brother’s plea
On a February 5 Instagram video, Cameron Guthrie was heard saying, “Whoever is out there holding our mother, we want to hear from you.” He went on to request that the family look for a way to communicate. “We haven't heard anything directly. We need you to reach out, and we need a way to communicate with you so we can move forward,” the 61-year-old added.
The Guthrie family is holding on to hope
"As a family, we are doing everything that we can," Savannah said in the Instagram video. "However, we live in a world where voices and images are easily manipulated. We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her."Cameron Guthrie also added that they first need to ensure that the abductors have their mother. He continued, “But first we have to know that you have our mom. We want to talk to you, and we are waiting for contact.”
An imposter was arrested in the case
As per E! News, authorities have confirmed they arrested “a total imposter” who was impersonating Nancy Guthrie’s captor in an attempt to “profit” from her disappearance. However, the FBI emphasized they are taking the ransom note “extremely seriously.”
Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance
The 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie was last seen by her family at her Tucson, Ariz, home at approximately 9:30 p.m. Jan. 31, per Pima County police.The 84-year-old was reported missing by her family Feb. 1 after a concerned friend alerted Nancy’s loved ones that she didn’t show up for a church service that morning, police confirmed to Today. After her children searched Nancy’s property for around an hour, they called authorities and reported her missing around noon.
