South Central Railway (SCR) on Monday introduced an access control system at the Cherlapalli station’s south terminal (Platform 9 side) to streamline pick-up and drop-off activities.
Under the new arrangement, vehicles entering the terminal premises can exit free of charge if they do so within 20 minutes. All vehicles are required to obtain digital tickets upon entry.
Vehicles proceeding to designated parking areas will not incur access control charges. However, those exceeding the free 20-minute window in the circulating area will be charged as follows: 20–30 minutes: ₹50, 30–45 minutes: ₹100, 45–60 minutes: ₹200 and beyond 60 minutes: ₹500.
Parking tariffs have been fixed separately: Cars: ₹20 for the first two hours; ₹10 for every additional hour, Bikes/Autos: ₹15 for the first two hours; ₹10 for every additional hour. The initiative aims to curb unauthorized parking and ease congestion in the station’s circulating area, according to an SCR press release.
