A 32-year-old daily wage labourer who was swept away in the Musi River on Thursday (August 28, 2025) evening remains untraced, despite an ongoing search by rescue teams.

The man, identified as Mohd. Saleem, a resident of Shanker Nagar basti in Malakpet, is said to have entered the river near Chaderghat at around 5 p.m. on Thursday. He was reportedly inebriated.

An officer from Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) said that the water current in Chaderghat was strong, and he was quickly dragged away. Saleem is survived by wife, two daughters and a son.

Teams from State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and four units of HYDRAA, comprising about 20 personnel, have been scouring the stretch of the river since Thursday night.

Officials said the search was initially extended downstream towards Moosarambagh. “With no trace there, the teams are now keeping watch at the Musi treatment plant near Gourelly, Nagole, about 23 kilometres from Chaderghat, where the body may surface if recovery is delayed,” said a police official.
