The goal of science is not excessive production or consumption but creating conditions for everyone to live happily, said eminent scientist M.P. Parameswaran. He was inaugurating the second edition of the International Science Film Festival via videoconference.
“Children should never set their life’s goal solely on making money,” Dr. Parameswaran urged.
The inaugural ceremony, held at Thrissur Model Girls High School, on Friday was presided over by district panchayat president V.S. Prince, who announced that next year’s festival will feature 100 science films from Thrissur itself. “Students and teachers will soon receive training to make this possible,” he said.
Festival director K.P. Ravi Prakash, agriculture scientist Indira Devi and others spoke.
The opening day screened films including Engane Engane Engane, Manjadi, Pride of Kerala, Arivinte Lokam,and, Jeevante Thudippu.
On August 9, screenings will continue at Sree Theatre from 9:30 a.m. and at Vijnan Sagar Science Park from 10 a.m.
