Second generation WWE star undergoes surgery; Full story, injury & current WrestleMania 42 status

WWE had been building top rising star, Bron Breakker for months and he had been perceived to become their next top star. However, a huge setback has derailed those plans on the road to WrestleMania 42, making his future uncertain.

Breakker laid a havoc on ringside last week on RAW and was sent home by GM Adam Pearce. In reality, he suffered a major hernia and needed to get immediate surgery.Early speculations stated that he suffered the injury while tossing over the announce desk during his segment on RAW. However, a new report by PW Insider stated that Breakker had sustained a week prior to that and the decision to undergo surgery was taken last week. The report stated, “The word making the way around Raw is that Bron Breakker's hernia was an issue that had been ongoing prior to last week's Raw but the determination was made that surgery was needed after his Raw appearance.” Moreover, Michael Cole also announced on the Febraury 9 edition of RAW that The Unpredictable Badass got injured during training would be out of action indefinitely.

Was Bron Breakker the original choice to win the Royal Rumble before injury?

According to multiple reports, Bron Breakker was the original choice to win the 2026 Men's Royal Rumble match. However, after his injury came to light, WWE changed plans and went with Roman Reigns winning the match. However, the aforementioned report clarified that WWE's plan for Breakker was never to win the Rumble, and be eliminated early.

In fact, his early elimination was the planned move by them to start his road to WrestleMania. While he has undergone surgery, this puts his status for WrestleMania 42 under question. Although, his expected timeline of recovery is 4-6 weeks, it could be a huge miss if Breakker is not cleared in time for the Show of Shows this year. The former NXT Champion is rumored to face his former mentor, Seth Rollins, who has been speculated to be the masked man who attacked Breakker at the Royal Rumble.Since WrestleMania 41, Breakker had been aligned with Paul Heyman as part of The Vision and had been poised to become the next big star of the Stamford-based promotion. This has been evident from his huge push over the last year. However, with the former WWE Intercontinental Champion getting injured at a highly crucial time when WrestleMania 42 is on the horizon, it remains to be seen if he will watch it from the sidelines or recover in time to be a part of it.Also read: Is Bad Bunny heading back to WWE after Super Bowl halftime as WrestleMania buzz grows with insider hints?
