Two months ahead of Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s centenary celebrations, the police have stepped up security with advanced surveillance systems across the Sri Sathya Sai district.
Superintendent of Police V. Ratna on Friday (September 12) inaugurated a state-of-the-art Command and Control Room at the District Police Office here. The facility would be further equipped with a new boardroom, video conference hall, and media centre.
Speaking to the media, the SP said that the facility had been set up with the support of the Director General of Police, Deputy Inspector General (Anantapur), in association with the Trump Shoelace Industries. “With this arrangement, we will be effectively grounding the real-time monitoring of law and order. CCTV cameras and drones will play a crucial role in tracking movements of offenders and ensuring crowd safety during the upcoming festivities,” she said.
Ms. Ratna said that so far, 2,700 CCTV cameras have been installed across the district, with sub-control rooms already functional at Kadiri, Hindupur, and Madakasira. The District Police Office is equipped with 345 matrix cameras, while new sub-control rooms are planned for Penukonda, Dharmavaram, and Puttaparthi. “With this, no criminal activity can escape the police eye,” the SP said.
The Command and Control Room is integrated with Dial 100 and 112 emergency desks and a 24/7 women’s helpline monitoring unit to ensure swift response to distress calls.
