Varanasi: To promote the use of Hindi language in all the central govt related work, a meeting of the Nagar Rajbhasha Implementation Committee (NARAKAS), was held at the GM conference hall on Friday, alongside a literary seminar on noted poet, writer and journalist, Makhan Lal Chaturvedi.The meeting was chaired by chaired by North Eastern Railway (NER) general manager, Uday Borwankar.Senior officials, including chief official language officer, Prakash Chandra Jaiswal and deputy chief official language officer Manoj Mishra, attended the meeting along with representatives of central government offices and PSUs in the city.Presentations were also made by the Income Tax Department and Hindustan Petroleum.Addressing the gathering, NER GM, Borwankar said that as per constitutional provisions, all central government work should be carried out in Hindi and urged the departments to regularly upload reports on the official language portal.He also felicitated top-performing offices for 2025, including AIIMS Gorakhpur, Airports Authority of India, Central Warehousing Corporation, Khadi and Village Industries Commission, and NER.
Jaiswal said the committee reviews and promotes the use of Hindi in government offices and noted improvement in compliance, with 48 of 52 member offices submitting reports. He added that some offices are yet to register on the ministry portal.Mishra, while proposing the vote of thanks, emphasised regular meetings, workshops and timely reporting. Officials also showcased their services through presentations.The next meeting, scheduled for September 2026, will feature presentations by the Meteorological Department and the Central Integrated Pest Management Department.
