Serena Williams and Venus Williams are heading toward a long-awaited Wimbledon reunion, but their preparations could not look more different. Less than two weeks before the Championships begin on June 29, Serena has been working on grass courts with her family by her side, while Venus has been in Germany getting ready for the Bad Homburg Open.
The sisters, who will play doubles together at Wimbledon for the first time since the 2022 US Open, are currently around 450 miles apart as they build up to their return.Serena Williams sharpens grass-court game ahead of Wimbledon return
The 44-year-old has already taken her first competitive steps back on tour after ending a four-year break earlier this month at the HSBC Championships.
There, she teamed up with Victoria Mboko in doubles and won her opening match against Erin Routliffe and Nicole Melichar-Martinez. Their run ended after Mboko suffered a knee injury during her singles match against Karolína Plíšková. Serena then partnered with Karolína Muchová, but the pair lost to Erin Routliffe and Giuliana Olmos in straight sets.

Serena Williams reveals Olympia’s role in Wimbledon doubles reunion
Many fans wondered what led Serena and Venus to team up again. Serena later revealed that the idea came from her daughter.“My daughter Olympia told me I should play with Venus. She’s always right. I was like, ‘Okay Olympia. We’ll see if we can do it.”“She’s very serious. She knows. She’s very smart. She’s very wise, I think, is a better word. So I said, ‘OK, Olympia, let’s see if we can do it.”The Williams sisters have won 22 doubles titles together, including six Wimbledon crowns. They also hold a perfect 14-0 record in Grand Slam doubles finals, a mark that remains one of the greatest achievements in tennis history.
