Serena Williams and Venus Williams are heading toward a long-awaited Wimbledon reunion, but their preparations could not look more different. Less than two weeks before the Championships begin on June 29, Serena has been working on grass courts with her family by her side, while Venus has been in Germany getting ready for the Bad Homburg Open.

The sisters, who will play doubles together at Wimbledon for the first time since the 2022 US Open, are currently around 450 miles apart as they build up to their return.

Serena Williams sharpens grass-court game ahead of Wimbledon return

Serena Williams recently shared photos and videos from a practice session on Instagram. The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion was joined by her daughter Olympia and son Alexis, who both spent time on the court with rackets in hand.After enjoying time with her children, Serena turned her attention to training as she continued preparing for Wimbledon.

The 44-year-old has already taken her first competitive steps back on tour after ending a four-year break earlier this month at the HSBC Championships.

There, she teamed up with Victoria Mboko in doubles and won her opening match against Erin Routliffe and Nicole Melichar-Martinez. Their run ended after Mboko suffered a knee injury during her singles match against Karolína Plíšková. Serena then partnered with Karolína Muchová, but the pair lost to Erin Routliffe and Giuliana Olmos in straight sets.

Venus Williams begins Bad Homburg Open campaign in Germany

While Serena continues her work on grass in England, Venus Williams has chosen a different route before Wimbledon. The seven-time Grand Slam singles champion was spotted in Germany ahead of her opening match at the Bad Homburg Open.The tournament gives Venus valuable match practice before arriving at the All England Club. Although the sisters are preparing in separate countries, both are working toward the same goal — returning to one of the biggest stages in tennis together.Their Wimbledon doubles entry became official after they received a wild card from tournament organisers, setting up one of the most talked-about reunions of the season.

Many fans wondered what led Serena and Venus to team up again. Serena later revealed that the idea came from her daughter.“My daughter Olympia told me I should play with Venus. She’s always right. I was like, ‘Okay Olympia. We’ll see if we can do it.”“She’s very serious. She knows. She’s very smart. She’s very wise, I think, is a better word. So I said, ‘OK, Olympia, let’s see if we can do it.”The Williams sisters have won 22 doubles titles together, including six Wimbledon crowns. They also hold a perfect 14-0 record in Grand Slam doubles finals, a mark that remains one of the greatest achievements in tennis history.
