Serial burglar arrested; 11 theft cases across Karnataka, Kerala solved

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada police have arrested a habitual offender from Tamil Nadu in connection with a series of burglaries reported in Belthangady and Uppinangady. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to involvement in 11 theft cases, including five in Dakshina Kannada, police said.The arrested accused is identified as Jayakumar V,55, a native of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.Police said a series of burglary cases were reported in Belthangady and Uppinangady during May this year. Following an investigation, police arrested Jayakumar on Wednesday. During the operation, they seized an iron rod, a screwdriver, a bag and two mobile phones from his possession.During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to his involvement not only in the five burglary cases registered in Dakshina Kannada, but also in one case under Surathkal police station limits in Mangaluru, four cases in different police stations in Kerala, and one case in Bengaluru, taking the total number of cases linked to him to 11. The investigation and arrest were carried out by a team led by Ravi BS, inspector (in-charge), Belthangady police station, and Nagaraj, police inspector, Uppinangady police station. The team included PSIs Anand M, Sikhander Pasha, Suthesh KP, and personnel from the crime squads of Belthangady, Uppinangady and Kadaba police stations, along with officers from the CDR wing.
