Put the clippers away, TheUnitedStrand. The win streak has come to an end.
Manchester United’s four-game winning surge under Michael Carrick finally hit a speed bump on Tuesday night, but the unbeaten run rolls on after a dramatic 1-1 draw at West Ham.
Carrick had overseen statement wins over Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham to ignite talk of a longer-term future in the dugout. Four straight victories.
But at the London Stadium, United were blunt — and almost beaten.
Tomas Soucek turned in Jarrod Bowen’s cross early in the second half to put West Ham ahead and snap United out of their rhythm. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side did what few have managed in recent weeks: disrupt Carrick’s free-flowing attack.
Yet this United side has found a late punch under their interim boss.
Deep into stoppage time, Benjamin Sesko flicked home Bryan Mbeumo’s cross to rescue a point and extend the unbeaten run — even if the perfect start is gone.
“We were definitely not at our best," Carrick admitted. “We didn’t have that sharpness… Great spirit again, and we’ll take the point and move on."
The draw ends the four-game winning streak but keeps United firmly in fourth — still unbeaten under Carrick and still in control of their Champions League push, especially after Chelsea blew a 2-0 lead to draw with Leeds.
It wasn’t vintage. It wasn’t ruthless. But it wasn’t defeat either.
And for now, Carrick’s revival remains intact.
Elsewhere in the PL
Thomas Frank faced the full force of Spurs’ frustration as Tottenham’s slide continued, leaving them just five points above the relegation zone in 16th.
Chants of “you’re getting sacked in the morning" rang around the stadium after a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle — their 11th winless result in 13 league games on home soil.
Newcastle’s dominance paid off when Malick Thiaw struck in first-half stoppage time. Archie Gray briefly equalised, but Jacob Ramsey quickly restored the visitors’ lead to seal only their third away win of the season.
Chelsea also stumbled in the Champions League race, throwing away a 2-0 lead against Leeds. After goals from Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer, Leeds hit back through Lukas Nmecha’s penalty and Noah Okafor.
Meanwhile, Bournemouth beat Everton 2-1 to dent their European hopes.
