SGCCI Holds Workshop in Surat on Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 for Businesses

Surat: The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI) organized an awareness and training workshop on Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, with the aim of creating awareness among industrialists and professionals about digital data security and making them aware of the new legal provisions. Former chairman of Computer Society of India, Mumbai Chapter, Ravikiran Mankikar provided detailed information to the industrialists and professionals of Surat.

Ravikiran Mankikar said that the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 is a very important law for India, which ensures the security of personal information on digital platforms. He explained that it is very important for companies to be transparent while collecting customer information and the information should be used only for the right purpose. Under this law, strict penalties have also been made in case of data leakage or misuse of data.

He further said that in the digital era, data has become the new asset, hence it has become very important for organizations and companies to protect the personal information of customers and employees. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, companies are required to adopt a clear policy for collecting, storing and using data. In addition, it is also imperative to implement appropriate technology and cyber security mechanisms for data protection.

He added that if an organization does not comply with the provisions of this law, then heavy penalties and legal action can be taken by the government. Therefore, all industrialists and organizations should prioritize data security and take steps towards making digital systems more secure.

Ravikiran Mankikar emphasized on the need for professionals to understand the provisions of this law and implement it properly in their businesses. He gave detailed information to the members present during the workshop on many important issues related to data protection regulations, responsibilities of companies, data management and cyber security.
