Author Shefali Vaidya Calls Lenskart ‘Shameless’ Over Latest Advertisement Amid Ongoing Grooming Policy Row

Lenskart has been facing backlash for over a week after an alleged internal grooming document sparked debate online. The issue has now taken another turn after author and speaker Shefali Vaidya shared a strong reaction to the brand’s latest advertisement. Her post comes at a time when the company is already under scrutiny. While Lenskart has issued a clarification, the conversation around the controversy continues to grow on social media.

Amid the ongoing row, Shefali Vaidya criticised Lenskart for continuing its promotions. Sharing a recent advertisement, she questioned the timing and intent behind it.

She wrote, “The shamelessness of @Lenskart_com even after the outrage, see how blatantly they are advertising their products. This is just 3 days back! @peyushbansal is running a full fledged Jehadi outfit looks like, and Hindus continue to fund them!"

Her post quickly gained attention and added to the already heated discussion online. Many users reacted strongly, echoing her concerns, while others disagreed with her take.

Social Media Remains Divided

Following Shefali Vaidya’s post, reactions continued to pour in. Some users supported her stance and called for stronger action against the brand.

A user wrote, “I think. After this much noise Lenskart customers have decreased. But only Hindus. Simultaneously, m have began to purchase more than necessary just to divide Hindus sentiment. This rule is being applied since 1600 yrs. We need to wake up and don’t critise ourself."

Another commented, “Yes, his apology was just an eyewash. Our protest was not enough to teach him lessons. We need to do more. Hindu organisations need to come forward and appeal for total boycott." “I have stopped buying Lenskart products since a decade now. Cheaters of the highest order. And now with this incident, no chance of buying Lenskart products in future," a person wrote.

At the same time, some users questioned the criticism. “’What’ problematic in this ad, that HR document can be classified as problematic but not this one," one user said.

Another added, “How ought this advertisement to have been presented?" while someone else wrote, “I think the company has operations in the Middle East too. This ad is from that place."

What Started The Controversy

The issue began when screenshots of a document, said to be a grooming guide for employees, were shared online. The document suggested that some religious attire like hijabs and turbans were allowed, while Hindu symbols such as bindis, tilaks and kalawa were reportedly restricted or flagged.

This led to criticism from several users who questioned the fairness of such rules. Videos showing people damaging their eyewear and calls for a boycott also began to circulate.

Lenskart later addressed the matter. The company’s CEO said the document being shared was outdated and not part of its current policy. He added that the company respects all faiths and allows employees to express their beliefs.
