'She Didn't Want To Go, Ketan Convinced Her': Siya Goyal's Mother On Lohagad Fort Trek

Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: The mother of accused Siya Goyal on Thursday said her daughter had initially not wanted to go on the Lohagad Fort trek with businessman Ketan Agrawal before the incident, claiming that Ketan had convinced her to accompany him.

Speaking to reporters, Siya’s mother Pooja Goyal said the conversation between the couple before the trek was available in their chats.

“The night before the incident, Siya and Ketan had a video call about going to Lohagad Fort, and when Ketan’s mother came on the call, Siya said she didn’t want to go on the trek… but his mother asked her to go. This is all in the chat between the two, where she says she didn’t want to go but he was convincing her otherwise," Pooja Goyal said.

The statements came days after Pune Rural Police alleged that Siya Goyal and her friend Chetan Chaudhary conspired to kill Ketan Agrawal, who was engaged to Siya.

Pooja Goyal said her family had no knowledge of Chetan’s existence and claimed that Siya had never expressed any dissatisfaction with her marriage to Ketan.

“Siya never expressed any displeasure about this marriage. We did not know anything about Chetan. Ever since the engagement, she only spoke to Ketan," she said.

She added that if her daughter was found guilty after the investigation, she should receive the strictest punishment.

“If anyone is at fault in this, they should be given the harshest punishment. Even if it includes my daughter. If my daughter is found guilty, then she should be thrown from the same place where Ketan was thrown," Pooja Goyal told reporters.

Siya’s father Pravin Goyal also demanded strict action against whoever is found guilty, including his own daughter.

“Whoever did this should receive the harshest punishment. Just like the fort from which our Ketan fell, whoever is found guilty, even if it’s my own daughter, should be pushed from there," he said.

Pravin Goyal said the family was unaware of any relationship between Siya and Chetan Chaudhary.

“We did not have any prior knowledge about Siya’s love affairs. Siya was a simple girl. She is 19 years old. Would a 19-year-old girl do such a thing? I don’t know anything about him. Where did Chetan come from? I’ve never seen his face, nor have I ever spoken to him in my life," he said.

He added that the families had been preparing for Siya and Ketan’s marriage and had already made arrangements for the wedding.

Meanwhile, Pune Rural Police, which is investigating the case, has alleged that Siya did not want to marry Ketan and had allegedly planned his murder with Chetan Chaudhary.

Police have claimed that Siya and Chetan met during a Diwali party last year and later became close. Investigators allege that the two remained in contact and discussed plans to kill Ketan.

According to police, Ketan and Siya visited Lohagad Fort on May 31, where Siya allegedly first considered pushing him from the edge of the fort. Police have also claimed that an earlier attempt was allegedly made on June 14, when Siya tried to push Ketan but later said she had mistaken the situation after spotting a snake.

Both Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary are currently in seven-day police custody till June 29 as the investigation continues.
