'She Must Be Beautiful': Maharashtra Cop Suspended For Seeking 'Sexual Favours' From Detainee's Daughter

An assistant sub-inspector in Maharashtra’s Akola district was suspended after he reportedly demanded “sexual favours" from a detainee’s daughter.

The ASI, identified as Rakesh Jadhav, allegedly asked a woman detainee to send her daughter to him, news agency PTI cited police as saying on Wednesday.

According to the report, the woman had allegedly been arrested in connection with a financial scam involving Rs 80 lakh. She was kept at the Civil Lines Police Station lockup.

Jadhav, 54, on was on duty on Tuesday when he allegedly sought “sexual favours" from the accused’s daughter, Police Inspector Anil Jumle told PTI.

Lures Woman With Offer For Money

ASI Jadhav, who has been suspended since the incident and is on the run, allegedly told the detainee, “You are very beautiful; your daughter must be beautiful too. Send her to me, and I will give you ₹10,000", according to an India Today report.

After this, the woman complained the senior police officials about the incident. Meanwhile, a video surfaced on social media, showing the officials confronting and scolding the accused ASI.

Archit Chandak, District Superintendent of Police, suspended the ASI with immediate effect on Tuesday, PTI cited an official as saying.

A case has also been registered against the accused on relevant charges under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
