The 7-year-old from Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur won the gold medal at the Indo-Nepal International Speed Skating Championship 2026 in Kathmandu.

At an age when most children are just discovering their favourite hobbies, 7-year-old Anushi Sirohi has already made India proud on the international stage. The young speed skater from Nagal village in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district recently won the gold medal in the under-7 girls' 800-metre race at the International Speed Skating Championship in Kathmandu, Nepal. Her remarkable achievement is a story of passion, perseverance and the power of believing in big dreams from a young age. (Image: Instagram/@anushi_sirohi)

Anushi's skating journey started only a year ago after she was inspired by her father, Anuj Kumar. What began as a fun sport soon turned into something much bigger as she displayed exceptional talent on the rink. The Class 1 student quickly rose through the ranks, first excelling in district competitions before winning at the state level. Her latest triumph in Nepal marks her biggest achievement yet and puts her among India's promising young sporting talents. (Image: Instagram/@anushi_sirohi)

Anushi's victory was celebrated far beyond the medal ceremony. On returning to her village, she received a grand welcome from family members, neighbours and well-wishers, who gathered to congratulate the young champion. The celebrations reflected the pride her achievement brought not just to her family but to the entire community. (Image: Facebook/@Vishu Sirohi)

While Anushi's talent has shone brightly, her family credits much of her success to the guidance of her coaches, Ravi Sharan and Rahul, who have played a key role in shaping her skills over the past year. (Image: Instagram/@anushi_sirohi)

Her parents have been her biggest supporters. Her mother, Shikha Sirohi, says she always believed her daughter had potential, though she never imagined success would come so quickly. Her father hopes Anushi will continue to climb the ranks and one day represent India at the Asian and global levels. (Image: Instagram/@anushi_sirohi)
