An alert has been issued across Mumbai and several parts of Maharashtra ahead of Shiv Sena’s Foundation Day celebrations, as political tensions continue over speculation of possible defections from the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) faction.

Mumbai Police stepped up surveillance and deployed additional personnel at key locations to prevent any untoward incidents during the celebrations. Officials have identified areas such as Goregaon and Sion as sensitive zones and have increased security arrangements in and around party offices and event venues.

The heightened alert comes amid growing political chatter over the possibility of leaders and workers from the Shiv Sena (UBT) camp switching allegiance, a development that has intensified the ongoing rivalry between the factions led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

Party workers from both camps held separate Foundation Day programmes, with leaders using the occasion to showcase their political strength and organisational support. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure that celebrations remain peaceful and do not lead to clashes between rival groups.

Shiv Sena Denies Rumours

The Shiv Sena has dismissed the reports suggesting that six Uddhav Thackeray faction MPs are scheduled to join the party during the foundation day event at NESCO on Friday, ANI reported.

The development comes at a time when six of the Sena UBT Lok Sabha MPs skipped the parliamentary meeting in New Delhi. Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut announced that show-cause notices have been issued to the six absentees, initiating the formal process for their disqualification from the Lower House.
