New Delhi: Reddit has recently started testing its latest AI-powered shopping feature within its Search tool, which will display product suggestions directly in search results. This latest update places product listing along with the relevant discussion threads. Reddit has also stated that several users rely on Reddit to read reviews and opinions before making any purchase decision.
This latest feature is intended to make it convenient for users to identify and access the products mentioned in those conversations. But there is one more catch: this feature is only available to selected users in the US.
When the users search for something, they might see a product carousel appear at the bottom of the Search results. This suggestions carousel displays items that have been mentioned by the users in the related posts and comment threads.
Each product card will include basic details such as images and pricing. When the users tap on a product, they can view more information and find links that take them to selected retailer websites. They can also learn more about the product or complete a purchase.
Reddit has also stated that the experiment mainly aims at consumer electronics. Reddit also added that the product listings are pulled from the catalogues of Reddit’s Dynamic Product Ads partners. This generally means certain items shown in the carousel might come from advertising partners, along with the products mentioned organically in conversations.
Reddit has also said that the feature is built around discussions that happen on the platform. Rather than showing random shopping suggestions, the system also highlights products that have been recommended by users in actual threads. Reddit also described the test as a way to make Search more useful while keeping community input central to the experience.
