Senior Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Bilal Arif Salafi was shot and stabbed to death inside the group’s heavily guarded headquarters in Muridke, Pakistan, according to top intelligence sources.

Salafi, a key recruiter and ideologue of the terror outfit, was reportedly attacked at close range. Sources said one man fired shots at him while a woman repeatedly stabbed him, indicating a possible personal or family-related dispute behind the killing.

Bilal Arif Salafi had been active with Lashkar-e-Taiba since 2005 and operated from the Markaz Taiba complex in Muridke. He played a central role in radicalising cadres, building the Kashmir jihad narrative, and recruiting Pakistani youth for anti-India terror activities.

He was also deeply involved in logistics, terror financing, and weapons procurement. Intelligence sources say he helped maintain the continuous supply of funds and arms to the organisation. Despite maintaining a low public profile, Salafi was considered close to the top leadership of Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Officials believe his death will create a temporary vacuum in the group’s cadre mobilisation and recruitment network.

Sources further noted that such a breach inside a highly secure facility like Markaz Taiba would be difficult without internal support. This has raised suspicions of possible infighting within Lashkar-e-Taiba, although a family dispute linked to property issues is also being considered as a likely cause.

The attack reportedly took place shortly after Eid prayers, highlighting serious internal security concerns within the terror infrastructure in Pakistan.

Further investigation is underway.
