BHOPAL: Shots were fired in a filmy style early Saturday morning when around 6 associates of notorious criminal Shadab Gate allegedly opened fire at the house of another history-sheeter, Lallu Rais, in the Ashoka Garden area.
Lallu Rais’s son Imran sustained a bullet injury to his leg in the attack. After carrying out the firing, the accused fled the spot.The injured Imran was taken to Hamidia Hospital for treatment. It is alleged that the miscreants also entered the hospital main gate and fired shots there, triggering panic. Bullets reportedly hit a window and a wall of the hospital building. Lallu Rais claimed that the attackers also fired at him in the hospital, but he escaped unhurt.
Police said the case is linked to the Ashoka Garden and Koh-e-Fiza police station areas, and teams from both stations launched a search for the accused.Accused followed victim to his house:According to Lallu Rais, Shadab Gate and his associates reached his house in Shankar Garden around 5.45 am on Saturday. The accused allegedly chased his son Imran and followed him to the house.Victim shot from behindAs Imran reached home, the accused allegedly opened fire at him from behind.
In an attempt to save himself, he rushed inside the house and locked the gate. During the firing, 1 bullet grazed his leg, leaving him injured.Attack linked to 2-year-old rivalryLallu Rais claimed that the attack was carried out to avenge an old rivalry. Lallu Rais also alleged that the accused operated illegal gambling and betting rackets in different parts of the city. He claimed that he exposed their illegal activities and shared them with police, which led to action and the closure of their operations.
According to him, the accused wanted to kill him because of this.ACP Anil Bajpai said the matter is under investigation and CCTV footage from Hamidia Hospital is being examined. 2 accused opened fire at the Hamidia Hospital gate, and the bullets hit the hospital wall and windows. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
